Printer Wi-Fi Setup
Sends your Wi-Fi details to a USB label printer from this page. Your password stays on this computer: it goes only to the printer and is not saved.
1. Connect the printer
Plug in the USB cable and turn the printer on, then pick it from the list.
On Windows and it says access denied?
Windows' printer driver is holding the USB connection. Trying a Mac first avoids this. Otherwise, swap the driver:
- Close the Diagnostic Tool, then download Zadig from
zadig.akeo.ieand open it. - Choose Options > List All Devices, then pick the printer from the list.
- Choose WinUSB as the new driver and click Replace Driver.
- Unplug the printer, plug it back in and reload this page.
To undo it afterwards: in Device Manager, right-click the printer, choose Uninstall device and tick the option to remove the driver. Unplug it, plug it back in, and reinstall the printer's Windows driver if it doesn't come back as a printer. You need this to print over USB, and the Diagnostic Tool won't see the printer on USB until then.
2. Enter your Wi-Fi details
Capitals and spaces must match exactly. Use a 2.4 GHz network if you have the choice.
To find these, join your normal Wi-Fi and run ipconfig. Gateway is the "Default Gateway". For the IP address, keep the first three numbers and choose an unused last number, such as 200.
3. Send the settings
We don't know yet which commands your printer understands, so there are two tries. Do Try 1 first and only use Try 2 if the Wi-Fi page shows no address. Try 2 could print a few stray characters, which is harmless. If the printer stops responding, turn it off and on again.
4. Check that it worked
- Turn the printer off and on again, because the settings only apply after a restart.
- Wait 30 seconds, click Connect printer again, then click the button below.
- Look for an IP address on the printed page, such as
192.168.1.200.
