Printer Wi-Fi Setup

Sends your Wi-Fi details to a USB label printer from this page. Your password stays on this computer: it goes only to the printer and is not saved.

1. Connect the printer

Plug in the USB cable and turn the printer on, then pick it from the list.

Not connected.
On Windows and it says access denied?

Windows' printer driver is holding the USB connection. Trying a Mac first avoids this. Otherwise, swap the driver:

  1. Close the Diagnostic Tool, then download Zadig from zadig.akeo.ie and open it.
  2. Choose Options > List All Devices, then pick the printer from the list.
  3. Choose WinUSB as the new driver and click Replace Driver.
  4. Unplug the printer, plug it back in and reload this page.

To undo it afterwards: in Device Manager, right-click the printer, choose Uninstall device and tick the option to remove the driver. Unplug it, plug it back in, and reinstall the printer's Windows driver if it doesn't come back as a printer. You need this to print over USB, and the Diagnostic Tool won't see the printer on USB until then.

2. Enter your Wi-Fi details

Capitals and spaces must match exactly. Use a 2.4 GHz network if you have the choice.

3. Send the settings

Connects over USB using the same commands as the printer's Diagnostic Tool, then watches for the address the printer gets. This can take up to about 90 seconds.

Older methods (not needed)

These were borrowed from other printers. Try 2 could print a few stray characters.

USB access denied? Send over the printer's hotspot

This needs no driver change and no USB. Your Wi-Fi details from step 2 are used. The printer gives no reply this way, so the buttons can only say the data was sent. Check the printer itself to see what happened.

Join the printer's Wi-Fi first (password 12345678). Print a test label first. If it prints but also adds a few stray lines of text, that's expected and harmless.

After Try 1 or Try 2, turn the printer off and on again, wait 30 seconds, rejoin its Wi-Fi if needed, then click Print Wi-Fi page and look for an IP address.

4. Check that it worked

  1. Turn the printer off and on again, because the settings only apply after a restart.
  2. Wait 30 seconds, click Connect printer again, then click the button below.
  3. Look for an IP address on the printed page, such as 192.168.1.200.

Read printer status asks the printer over USB and shows any answers in Activity below, without printing. Some of these questions may not suit your printer, so no answer doesn't prove anything is wrong.
